I’m passionate to capture the arcane in contemporary contexts by tracing ancestral codes within corporealities, landscapes and ritual acts. Through portraiture I explore queer sculpture-hood, where the body becomes a living archive of diverse spiritual technologies set against foreign backdrops. Queerness, to me, is a radical turn-around, the honouring but also the reinvention of tradition; the transfiguration of symbols, knowledges and form as an affirmation of new points of departure. In my work, I ultimately seek to create totems; subjects that are an amalgamation of magical possibilities and act as portals towards new mythological narratives and heightened spiritual sensibilities.
